Why bring in a new franchise now? I hate to break it to everybody, but Wellington is not exactly the hub of commerce and activity it once was. An international cost of living crisis means that most vehicle dealers are doing it tough. We ask Jimmy Mair, Dealer Principal about this.
Kove is a new franchise for TSS Motorcycles. Why bring it into the mix? Kove is new to New Zealand and it's success on the track has shown that it is a capable and has a quality range of adventure motorcycles.
Kove is made in China and traditionally TSS has not supported Chinese motorcycles. What has changed? It is not that we have not supported Chinese Motorcycles, I can name three Chinese brands that we service in the workshop but until now we have not had this level of quality, tooling and parts support that we can get with Kove.
What advantages does Kove have for local motorcyclists? The reality is it packs a big punch for the low price point. It might not have the high-end componentry that some other brands have but it will allow a whole lot of our customers to get out there and have fun without burning a hole in their pocket.

An exciting new colour has arrived in our showroom at TSS Motorcycles with the all new to NZ brand, Kove Moto, arriving late July.
Interest in these exciting brands has been high with overseas testing and owners giving rave reviews, having tried the bikes we can now see why! With the Focus on Performance tagline ringing in our ears, we’ve started putting some serious testing on our 800 Rally demonstrator despite the awful Wellington weather of late.
Three different models are available initially.
The heavily Dakar inspired 450 Rally takes Adventure bikes to the “Rally” level. Powered by a strong 450cc single cylinder engine the tall Rally bike offers an unparalleled 300mm suspension travel from it KYB forks. At 155kg curb weight and offering a maximum 30L fuel capacity, the featherweight off-road race bike will handle everything you can throw at it for as long as you can throw it. Top spec model is $16,299 plus on road costs
For the more sensible Adventure tourer riders, we offer the 800 X Pro. Featuring a 95ps, 799cc parallel twin and only 185kg curb weight, the performance on or off-road is “urgent”. Spec laden, the “X” gets rider modes, cruise control, quick-shifter, traction control and blue-tooth or wifi connectivity to the TFT display. Suspension travel from the 48mm KYB suspension is 240mm and this bike come equipped with tubeless spoked wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Adventure tyres. At a price of $17,999 plus on road costs, this incredible off-road and travel capable Adventure bike beats the competition on every metric possible.
Finally for the hard-core Adventure Rally riders, we have the 800 Rally. Standing tall on 270mm travel YuAn forks, this bike was built to dominate any terrain and do it at speed. Ultra light weight at 176kg curb it’s powered by the same powerplant as the 800X, simply delivered in a more analogue fashion. Creature comforts are forgone in the interest of providing the most engaging and exciting riding experience possible. Heavy duty off-road wheels and brakes, even the solid chain guide looks like it means business. It’s an acceptable road bike, but a barking mad off-road bike. If wheelies, jumps, impossible hill-climbs and spraying roost are your jam, this is definitely the bike for you. The build quality is undeniable where ever you look, from the stunning billet aluminium triple clamps to the super light weight subframe. Priced at $18,299 plus on road costs, your mates wont see which way you went.
All models feature smart electronics which remember where you left the TC or ABS set, so no more rifling through menus every time you restart the bike.
